Anna Treloar-Tanner

Anna is an Occupational Therapist who is committed to specialising in the field of mental health. She has a broad working experience within primary mental health settings including: acute, sub-acute community rehabilitation, community case management and aged psychiatry. She has worked in psychiatric disability rehabilitation support services (PDRSS) in respite, family support and as a project officer mapping the carer support services in the Barwon region.
 
Anna is a qualified assessor of the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS) and has a specialized knowledge in the provision of sensory modulation interventions for adolescents, adults and the aged. In 2015 Anna completed a research project as part of a collaboration with Deakin University Honours Program in the provision and effectiveness of sensory modulation strategies in an acute psychiatric unit.

Anna has worked as a lecturer of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University whilst working for Barwon Occupational Therapy.

Anna recently attended the Autism Forum 2018 run by Pearson Academy.

Gwenneth performs the roles of practice manager, therapy assistant team leader, support, inquiries and finance.
She has a background working with the disability sector assisting children with a range of disabilities including Autism and challenging behaviours.

Gwenneth has attended numerous workshops including; "Social and Emotional Skills for Children and Adolescents on the Spectrum" and "Positive Behavoural Supports for Kindergarten Children". 

Gwenneth is passionate about enjoying life rather than just going through the motions of a day.

Linda Backus
BA Occcupational Therapy

Linda is an Occupational Therapist who has specialized in mental health, drug and alcohol services over the past 19 years in a variety of settings including acute in-patient and community-based adult mental health as Senior/Occupational Therapist and Senior/Case Management Clinician, adult residential rehabilitation as Senior Occupational Therapist and in community-based aged mental health as Case Manager.

Linda has also worked as a Rehabilitation Consultant for 11 years in both the private and public sector assisting people with work-related injuries to return to work and/or develop skills towards achieving an alternative productive and satisfying lifestyle.

During her career she has completed many additional training courses including CBT, motivational interviewing, Assessment of Motor and Process Skills, the Perceive, Recall, Plan & Perform System of Task Analysis,  Family Sensitive Practice. She has also undertaken research and is published in areas related to mental health case management.

Linda is passionate and committed to enhancing the functional independence of people with mental health issues through client-centered assessment and interventions.
  


Valya Bazalicki

Valya has worked in the public and private mental health sectors of for over 27 years and has established a successful private practice in Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula since 2006.
 
Valya's clinical experience and expertise is in providing a combination of focused psychological strategies, mindfulness based therapy and psychotherapy for individuals and couples with presenting mental health concerns.
 
Her treatment modalities include; Occupational Therapy assessments, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Gestalt Psychotherapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Cognitive behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Anger Management, Sensory Modulation, Goal Setting and Problem Solving, Communication and Assertiveness Training, Meditation and Spirituality and Relationships and Couples Therapy - IMAGO technique, ACT with Love. 
Valya has an extensive work history with individuals and groups who live with complex mental health issues, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and she co-ordinates a PTSD program for Veterans’, Defence Personnel and First Responders. She utilizes Trauma Focused Awareness and Recovery modality, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Exposure Therapy techniques in her therapy practice.
 
Valya’s intention in therapy is to engage in therapeutic relationship with her clients to promote their self-awareness, their self-worth and self-efficacy to create wellbeing and meaningful change.


Cathy Schiavon

Cathy has worked as an OT in the mental health and disability fields over many years. This has included assessment and intervention in acute care, residential rehabilitation and case management; and in private practice with NDIS participants.

Cathy’s focus is on helping people achieve what is important to them in their life, to experience well-being.  She endeavours to work alongside people, their families and support networks, to promote active involvement and participation in their occupations and activities and improved function.

Cathy has completed training in Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Helping Children with Autism, and Sensory Modulation.  She is a provider of the Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP), The Listening Program (TLP) and Assessment of Motor & Process Skills (AMPS).  She has an interest in sensory interventions, mindfulness, trauma-informed & recovery care, family/carer support and groupwork.
  


Beth Saddington

Beth has a specialised interest and experience in working with people of all ages, who experience emotional/behavioural disturbances, intellectual disability or psychiatric illness. Beth understands the importance of a satisfying and purposeful life, and she believes that everybody should have equal opportunity to engage in this lifestyle, despite the difficulties that can arise within these conditions.

Beth has worked within Adult Community Mental Health locally, as well as abroad to further generalise her skills and training by working within diverse communities. Beth has worked with in both sub-acute, transitional housing and community based facilities that aim to enhance a person’s independence through skill development, as well as improving their quality of life by ensuring they have the appropriate accommodation and supports in place.

Beth has also completed training in psychiatric specific treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Stress Management and Relaxation. These therapies are then applied within the context of a person’s lifestyle, to facilitate both their personal growth and goal progression. Beth continues to engage in study related to the impact technology and an increasingly demanding lifestyle have on our nervous systems.

Beth emphasises the importance of a meaningful and balanced routine that facilitates personal growth, social connectedness and pleasure within daily life.

Kiora Woodford

Kiora is an occupational therapist who is experienced in working with young and older adults with psychiatric disabilities.

Kiora currently works casually with Barwon Occupational Therapy as well as full time in a recovery orientated program with both Austin Health and Mind Australia. Kiora also currently volunteers with VACRO in a women's mentoring program. Kiora has done training in motivational interviewing and recent training in 'Environmental Approaches with people who have Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia'. Kiora has completed her studies of 'Helping children with Autism'. Kiora is skilled in sensory modulation, functional assessments and facilitation of practical and recovery orientated groups.

Kiora has a gentle and compassionate nature who always has the clients' best interest at heart. Kiora values person centred practice, creativity, health, wellbeing and quality of life. Kiora is committed in continuing to develop her professional skills and knowledge and apply this to her work using evidenced based practice.

Tamara Kichakov

Tamara is an Occupational Therapist who has a keen interest in physical health and paediatrics. She is passionate about maximising participation and function in personal, domestic and community tasks and working on goals that are meaningful to clients.
 
Tamara aims to work collaboratively with her clients to achieve specific individual outcomes according to their goals.
Tamara has experience working in private practice in an allied health clinic with management of physical dysfunction and pain management which is a role she currently maintains as a Myotherapist alongside starting at Barwon OT.
Tamara holds high value in evidence based practice and is committed to continually  advancing her education.

Tessa Lloyd

Tessa is an Occupational Therapist who is dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of her clients. She has a background in paediatrics and youth mental health, and specialises in implementing sensory modulation techniques to improve health outcomes. She has completed a Diploma in Art Psychotherapy, and workshops including Yoga for Occupational Therapy, mindfulness training, and the Zones of Regulation framework. 

She utilises this training throughout her work as an OT, enabling a warm and holistic approach to the services she provides. 
  

Alex Davie

Alex is an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about a creating strong and meaningful relationships to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved for the people he works with. He has experience working with young people living with autism and intellectual disability, and a keen interest in the area of physical health.

Alex has also completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at Federation University and his knowledge about the physiology of the human body is a perfect complement to his skill set as an Occupational Therapist.

Alex is a very active person, and in his spare time plays local football and cricket, and enjoys spending time fishing, eating out, and socializing.
  
  

Kelsey Sherwood

Kelsey has a psychology background and has worked in the disability sector for the past 4 years in various support roles and prior to this in a mental health rehabilitation support role. 

Kelsey thoroughly enjoys working with children and has volunteered for an Autism playgroup and in 2014 completed Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) training.  She is passionate about helping children build and develop resilience to thrive and develop to their full potential. 

Kelsey has a personal interest in Eating Disorders and currently volunteers as co-facilitator for the Geelong Mental Health Professionals Eating Disorder Network alongside Anna Treloar-Tanner.

She is passionate about creating a trusting, meaningful rapport with her clients and families in order to help them achieve their goals.

Ruby is currently in her third year of studies in Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. 

Ruby has experience as a support worker and has an interest with working with people with a disability and/or are impacted by mental health.

Merryn Tanner

Merryn is one of the administration team members and is assisting in the role of business administration, support, inquiries and research.

Merryn has a background in administration and has worked for a large company in a lead administration role. She has also worked in Primary Education and has 1st hand experience teaching ages 6-13 in a classroom setting.
​Merryn is looking forward to becoming a vital member of this team.
